Below will be a random page from "Kinships". This may not be new to you, but the future is the biggest mystery to mankind. A thousand years may not be much time compared to the rest of the universe. For us, it's basically unthinkable and highly questionable. Let's explore an idea together, the Idea? What if we had one last chance...

“You, the next generation. The future, even the hope of a species. Sad how we ask childern to bare the weight of centuries of compounded problems. We leave you a broken world and ask for the miracle of fixing it. Why?” A cloaked shadow sat on a fallen tree, turning nearby flowers black with decay.

“I’m not sure. As far as I know it’s been asked by every new generation. Do you know?” I sat next to this shadow.

“From my years watching mankind, you have the right idea. Each generation asks to next to fix the problems they create. I do wonder what your generation will do. You and your friends are faced with the chance to do better or to ignore. Your fathers and grandfathers, and even great grandfathers ignored. Luckily you are determined to change your fate and the fate of the future.”

“Yeah, do you think it’s worth the risk?”

“Change has always come at a cost. Weather seen or unseen, but it is the drive and need of change to make it worth it. Time to wake up and change fate, Ray.”

Glowy A and D were liking me, while John and Mike were making breakfast. Being near the Canada/American border was exciting. Endless amount of trees, like seas of leaves. Rabbits and deer munched on dew covered grass as birds sang in harmonies. The sweet smell of flowers made us all sneeze here and there. The Glowies were busy with tree trucks as back scratchers.

Few miles later, a different image was before us sadly. Rusted gates, torn buildings, and signs of decay covered old laws that faded out of history. Pulling back sticky vines, we found nothing among the empty chairs and empty offices. After raiding what was left in vending machines, I watched as bare flag poles disappeared from view. Sad how the past shows both the good and the bad of anything. Like pages in a book, the writer effects the readers on every small level possible.
