We ate and laughed about the different lives we lived, he’s life seemed close to mind. We both have been on the move for a long time. After packing bags and cleaning up, we left the small building and headed farther northeast together. We held hands, at first it was a little awkward then peaceful and calm. Popcorn paid more attention to the birds flying overhead, as I noticed John staring at me more and more. His eyes shined as if stars were caught in them, they were incredible.

I looked into them, just for a moment, but it felt like an hour went by. His smile grew just as quiet as my smile grew after looking away, we decided to stop at a patch of trees for the night. Popcorn curled against John’s right leg, I was a little surprised by the change in Popcorn’s behavior. The stars slowly moved above us, I wish I could resist looking at John. I could sense that he was looking at me, but when I looked over he was looking at the stars. There was something John wanted to say, but he was waiting but for what reason?

“The stars are dancing more than usual” I wanted to start some sort of conversation.

“Really? Wait, you can read the stars?” John turned towards me, smiling even more than before.

“If you mean to see how they change throughout the night, then yes.”

“If I stayed with you and Popcorn, will that be a problem?”

I thought about it for a second or so, “Of course you can go with us.”

“Really?” He jumped up, and Popcorn hissed at him while I laughed a little, “Sorry, Popcorn.”

“We can plan the next 100 miles tomorrow, okay?”
