The peephole

I woke up in a small, empty broom closet, and I was locked inside. I could barely see out of the peephole on the door, as I am short compared to the door. On the other side was a living room in a beautiful house. I watched for a while, wondering if someone would show up. I sat down, knowing that for now I was alone. Without a clock in here, there is no way to tell what time of day it is.

Then I heard an ear-piercing scream, and I jumped to the peephole. Nothing was out there, besides the bloody drag marks across the floor. I watched as a red hazmat suit came out of an adjusted room, holding a bag marked as biohazard. They stopped to take notice of the trail of blood, calling it in on their radio. Two blue hazmat suits came out and began to clean up the blood on the floor. The red hazmat suit walked past without a care and left through another door.

The blue hazmat suits left once all the blood was gone. Three yellow hazmat suits came out and sprayed something around the room. I realized it was a strong cleaning product when they turned off the light and used blue UV lights. The same lights my team would use to see where blood spatter has gone. Once they were satisfied with their work, they turned the lights back on and left. I have no idea where I am, but it looks like a slaughterhouse for humans.

At this point, I really wanted to wake up. I was trying to go to sleep on the carpet floor, but it wasn’t working. I pinched myself, and it hurt, so I was stuck here in this closet. I wish I were dreaming, but reality can be hard to accept sometimes. I heard a male scream for help, but all I could do was watch from my door. I felt a strong need to itch the back of my left leg.

As I looked at my left leg, I could track the outline of an injection site. It left the shape of a diamond on my skin, but now it was rash red. A loud thud made me jump back. It was like something heavy hit the door, so I checked the peephole. A man was wrestling with some police officers wearing riot gear and masks. It was a three-on-one match, but that one man was putting up a good fight.

When they hit the door again, the force sent me back into the wall. I must have knocked out because I woke up in reality again. I was lying next to my love in our bedroom.
