Lonely Desert
There are sand dunes for miles, and the warm sun is beating down. It is not hot enough to make you sweat, but it is bright and cloudless. As I walked for hours, the sun did not move in the sky. A few palm trees dot the land, but there is no water. There is a strong smell of salt water and I chose to follow the scent. I found a cave with no one inside, but it looked like they just left.
I saw a pool of fresh water, it looked deep but I couldn’t tell how deep it was. I stepped inside the pool because I was curious and wondered where the light was coming from. Once underwater and my eyes had adjusted, I saw a tunnel connecting to something deeper. I found an empty underwater world, filled with buildings and blank towers. The light came from something past the last temple, a faceless statue. I touched it and the light blinded me for a moment.
I reached the surface of the same cave, but everything was brighter. The dunes outside were now an endless city matching the one underwater. People didn’t see or just ignored me completely. It took longer to find the same statue again, with the same facelessness. Then I woke up from the dream.
