Current Events and Tech 8/22/2026
Concerning current events around the world
First, I have seen and heard for months that we are in an odd space in time. On one side we are advancing yearly, making life better. On the other hand, the chance of another civil war or world war is rising. Every day, more so on the news, they have to add a note about it. I know that it would take an extreme event for anything to happen. We have had close calls very recently and that makes it more concerning to me.
Then, the rise in dead diseases is terrifying. Being raised in a medical family, I thought that it was important to use medical advances proven to keep you alive. For example, I even got a vaccine from birth till last flu season. If I couldn’t make the appointment on time, it would be scheduled in the same month or sooner. I know that other people will have their reason, but the disease is worse than getting a small and short fever. I will not stop people and make them get one, but I will be honest with them.
Next, the rise in immigration and racism is eerie. Both have existed since the beginning of time, but it is how it has gotten darker with time. Being mixed, I am used to people mistaking me for the wrong race. The repeating point that I see, is the use of purposely antagonizing someone. Even some people I know will use derogatory terms for some groups. I was raised to treat people the way you want to be treated. Seeing the hate, makes me believe that we are not ready for advancement as a species. How can we advance if we still judge each other’s skin? We bleed blood, maybe a different type of blood but it is blood.
Adjoining, the lack of importance on protecting and holding the first amendment is astounding. States feel comfortable with forcing one religion in schools, although we were built by thousands of religions. People feel that using violence is under freedom of speech. I will be the first one to say that is not the case. The government is waiting for the bad apples to do something to control all of us. I was thinking if we sit back and let those people make a mess; we can be the “cleaners” and get something in return. Meaning, we can use our position to get what is important like universal funding for food for all meals at schools. That is just one of many solutions.
The last concerning current event is the cost of living still on a high note. Groceries, gas, rent, lights, water; all of the bills keep going higher. Our paychecks have not grown with the cost of living. We have to cut back on our needs just to stay above water. They say things will get better, but it is hard to believe.
Current technology
To start with, every month more of our data is leaked by some company. Since 2019, my identity has been stolen a few times. So I know personally that there are people out there hunting other people. The government wants more data centers when they can’t keep our most important data safe. I wish I could say that it will get better, but I am not sure. The future is foggy at this point.
When it gets hot around here, the power tends to slow down and get funky. I have the same problem. The longer I am outside in the heat, the more it drains from me. I do wonder if this will be a problem on a global level.
With what is going on with AI currently, it is a matter of time before AI fails. It is not how or where, but when, why, and whom. Most importantly it is what we can do about it. I know that when it happens, I want to be old enough that I don’t need a laptop or phone to get everything done.
That slides into the next point, the extreme need for technology. I have to stop myself from buying the newest thing. It is easy to follow the latest trend and want to fit in with everyone else. For example, I really want this writing tablet that connects to other devices. You can write notes and get them off in other places. I can just use the notebooks I have already.
Being creative 8/24/2026
My largest hobbies take up most of my time everyday.
First, I love my artwork. For example, I am working on a futuristic centipede image. I also added symbols that I like around it in different colors. I love exploring color combos and different designs.
Next, I am close to editing my eighth book. I love challenging myself in the fiction section. Combining true crime and the future is helpful towards optimism. I will continue to make books, covers, and any needed with it.
Then, I love gaming on Xbox. Stardew Valley is a great long-term adventure game. Cult of the Lamb is another game I love. One day I will do my own leader playthrough. For now I like helping as a member in the cult. I will find more games to play. Maybe I will find people to play with.
I like making songs and streaming on Twitch. I love sharing both on the several social media sites I have. I want to get better at it as I keep sharing. I have looked at the long-term of social media and it is foggy. I keep seeing videos of people complaining that the world is looking at everything. It has been that way since the first social media was made.
I love my magic powers and my connection to the Gods. The future of freedom of religion is rocky, just looking at what has been going on. Some people want there to be only one religion, but we have the right to worship as we please. I know that most people will not do anything wrong. The ones that do evil make it hard on all of us.
Why do I think and believe that hobbies make life better?
We get lost in the hours at work. It drains the life from your body. All the free time I have my mind wanders. I get bored when my mind wanders away. My favorite hobby is writing and publishing what I make. With seven on my belt, I know that I can do this long term.
I love sharing what I make with other people. Sometimes I get feedback and sometimes the feedback is negative. I prefer knowing what other people think about my art. I believe that if you have good intentions, you will have a good life. I also believe that we should treat each other the way we want to be treated. That is why I am honest, kind, and open-minded.
How long do I want to be an artist?
My late grandpa and Dad are artists, so I can do it as long as I live. I have my late grandpa’s watercolor platelets. I will pass the skill of art down to my future children. I love what I am making so far. I plan on doing this all long as my hands and mind work. There is a chance that will all change in my golden years.
Magic in technology
Since the dawn of man, there has been a connection to magic. I want to continue my practice and connection. My love is supportive and helpful in finding unique items. I am careful in work areas, just in case. I will keep updating my tech as tech advances.
