  1. Love for world building 8/3/2026

    1. In fantasy and fiction and other like genres, world building is the superpower most writers gain. My love for complex lives with deep meaning drives most of my tales. It did start with normal curiosity and wonder for the world around me. I now have some planning and methods to build my worlds. Starting with the small detail of the five W’s and how. I will list out reasons for each part.

    2. Who? Creating beings is like giving birth to life. It is not like human birth or animal birth. It would be closer to a spiritual birth, like something in the core has blossomed. One example, and hypothetically, imagine a random individual suddenly awakening after a ten-year coma. This person will be very confused and curious, but mostly scared.

    3. What? If something happened, there was a location tied to it. Even history lessons are a good example of how important it is to answer "what" in your story plot. When you ask what happened, you are expecting every detail. Like one of my stories, it is about a string of murders on a spacecraft in the future. It could as simple as a story about pets and their lives.

    4. Where? Places can be anchors or beacons and maybe even more. Even you have an important where: the place you call home. It starts with where you are born and where your family comes from. Then it moves up to friends you make along the path of life. You add your own family on top of that sundae.

    5. When? I love sci-fi, so natural my tales are basied in the far future. I use what we know now and what we plan on doing with exploring the universe. I like to add in elements of George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, Shakespeare, and Edgar Allen Poe. I am always looking for new subjects to learn about. I think and believe that all my effort helps the “when” part of my tales.

    6. Why? The first story I published was inspired by Shakespeare and his plays. As I keep developing my skills, I want to share my ideas with whomever wants to read them. When I was in high school, most teachers told me that I needed to use my creativity ideas and make something. I think with seven books so far, they would be proud. I know that my family is proud because they celebrate each book release.

    7. How? This part is the hardest to do in world building. How does the characters live? How does the world work with each part explained? I could go on and on with “how” questions. Whatever your story needs to make it believable will be how the world is built.

    8. Once you put all of that together, in my opinion, you can start your story. There are many ways to write a story, but I think that the five W’s and how are significant. It doesn’t matter what genre or how many pages the story will be. I will continue to work on my writing. I highly recommend that everyone write about something they want. Schools will force you to write, but it’s for a great reason.
